If you’re renting your property there’s no need to buy buildings insurance which covers the structure of your home and outbuildings.

What’s covered?

  • Loss or damage to your contents in your home, outbuildings and garden if these are caused by something listed in the policy e.g. fire, theft, subsidence, flooding.
  • Cost of alternative accommodation - we’ll pay for accommodation if your home can’t be lived in because of damage covered by your policy, up to £10,000.
  • Replacement locks - if keys are lost or stolen.
  • Food in freezers – if your freezer breaks down or you accidentally turn off the power we’ll replace spoiled food.

What happens when I move?

You can take your contents insurance with you – just call us with your new address details and we’ll update your policy and advise of any changes to your premium – you don’t have to start from scratch.

Took most of the stress out of the situation

I had a leak from a cold water pipe in my loft which caused the ceiling in my spare bedroom to give way cascading several gallons of water. I managed to stop the flow and clean up but Aviva appointed Forshaws of Liverpool to take over the restoration. My ceiling was found to contain asbestos in the artex which meant a specialist company attending to remove the ceiling under sealed conditions. Forshaws oversaw the job and then dried out the room, replaced the ceiling and decorated. I was lucky that I managed to save my carpet and fittings. The best thing is that Forshaws have all the trades to complete the work, imagine trying to get different trades yourself in this day and age, not easy. In the past you had to get three estimates from each trade and then the insurance company would give you the go ahead. This system is simpler and less stressful. You have had enough stress with the incident without having to do everything yourself afterwards. Well done Aviva.

Exceptionally pain-free after a horrible experience

My rental flat was broken into (so was just a contents claim, not building) and very sentimental jewellery and watches were taken. From claim date to money in my account it was not much more than a week. I found everyone I dealt with very sympathetic and helpful and not at all like they were trying to find ways to avoid paying out which is what I hear about so many insurers. It made a really stressful and heartbreaking time so much easier to deal with. Genuinely couldn't complain at all about my claim experience. I only had to deal with Hallmark who Aviva use to value jewellery claims and I found them to be very fair, replacing the value with both vouchers and cash.

very poor customer service

Never go with them they are rubbish came after 1 month after complaining and phoning every day and never gave me right amount they are rubbish
