Life insurance for single mums

Knowing that even when you’re not there for your children they’re financially supported, might be the main reason you’re thinking about getting life insurance.

Life insurance for stay-at-home mums

Life insurance for a stay-at-home mum can be like the forgotten ‘special’ blanket. It's the reassuring warmth that often goes unnoticed until you really need it. Life insurance is that dependable companion, ensuring that if the unexpected happens, the family won't have to face the storm alone. Life insurance allows the family to focus on healing without the added weight of financial concerns.

What type of life insurance do mums need?

There are a few different aspects in life insurance that you should consider before diving in.

Level cover

This is when however much you have chosen as cover you’ll get a pay out as a lump sum and that amount will not change during the term.

Decreasing cover

When you take out this kind of life insurance, you’ll typically take this out alongside something like a repayment mortgage or long term loan. You’ll still get paid out the cover amount, but it will decreases each month.

Increasing cover

This is similar to decreasing cover but the opposite way round. You’ll be paid the cover amount but each year it will increase in line with the Consumer Price Index. This will only happen if it does increase and is capped at 10%.

Joint cover

If you and your partner would like combined cover, you can take out a joint policy. This pays out once and won’t provide cover for the second person after the first person passes away.
