Our Renewable Energy team wins ‘Underwriting Team of the Year’ at the 2025 London Market People Awards

We’re proud to announce that our Renewable Energy team has been named ‘Underwriting Team of the Year’ at the 2025 London Market People Awards, held at the London Markets Forum.

This award recognises the team’s innovative work in expanding our Renewable Energy underwriting appetite - an area that remains a key growth focus for us and since 2019, our renewables portfolio has grown to more than 200% of its former size.

Highlights of our award-winning proposition:

  • Offshore wind risk management research - in partnership with Supergen Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Hub and the University of Exeter, we’re funding a groundbreaking four-year PhD project. This initiative aims to develop a risk management framework for offshore wind construction and operations insurance programmes.
  • Wind turbine waste reduction - we’ve insured over 100 wind turbines aged 25 years or older, working closely with clients to help them navigate the complexities of extending turbine lifespans and reducing waste.
  • Expanded appetite - our underwriting appetite now includes international EV charge points, hydroelectricity, biomass, geothermal assets and mixed power portfolios, as well as a range of emerging green technologies such as floating wind and green hydrogen. We’ve also launched renewables coverage through Lloyd’s.
  • Enhanced policy wordings - we’ve updated our policy wordings to better reflect the evolving needs of our customers. This includes tailored coverage for wind, solar, and battery energy storage, with enhancements designed to support international clients.

“This award is a fantastic recognition of our Renewable Energy team’s passion, hard work and dedication to innovation in the renewable energy sector. It’s a testament to their drive to grow our renewables proposition and support clients on the journey to a more sustainable future. I’m excited to see how we’ll continue to evolve, expand our impact, and lead the way in supporting renewable clients both in the UK and globally.” Vicky Kent, Head of Renewable Energy & Engineering
