With Group Life, we financially support those left behind if your employee dies in service. This can include cover for their spouse or partner.

We understand that loss affects people in different ways. That’s why Group Life comes with bereavement support so the family left behind has someone to talk to. And we'll be there for you and your employees too.

What’s included in our Group Life insurance policy?

When an employee dies, our Group life insurance will be there for loved ones. Our policies come with:

  • A free cover limit – We’ll cover the majority of your employees without needing to see their medical information
  • Once only underwriting – We offer once only underwriting above the free cover limit up to £5m
  • Dependant pension option– We’ll provide a pension for the deceased’s spouse/partner, dependants and/or children
  • Spouse and partner cover – Employees can protect their spouse or partner through a separate Group Life policy

We now offer Master Trust arrangements for both Registered and Excepted Group Life policies.

The Master Trust arrangements provide an affordable and simple process allowing employers to offer life insurance to their employees.

With Master Trust, we’re able to cover all insured members under either the Registered or Excepted Master Trust schemes.

Our team of trained bereavement counsellors offer support to those affected by the loss when they need it most. They can give practical advice on anything from coping with organising the funeral of a loved one, right down to probate.

Making a claim

It’s quick and easy to make a Group Life claim – and there’s usually no need to send us the original death certificate. Simply complete the online claims form.

For Simple Group Life and Master Trust policyholders, please send an email to grouplifeclaims@aviva.com

1. Complete member details

Tell us the member’s details, as well as the scheme name and policy number. We also need to know the date, location and cause of death.

2. Confirm the payee details

Let us know who the beneficiary is, as well as any dependant’s details if there’s a pension payable.

3. Review and submit to us

We’ll send a confirmation email acknowledging receipt of the claim. And we’ll be in touch if we need more information.
