Take the Aviva Drive challenge

Aviva Drive is a nifty (and free) app that monitors your driving skills. Once you’ve completed 200 miles, you’ll get an individual driving score out of 10 based on things like your cornering, braking and acceleration. Safer drivers who score 7.1 or more save an average of £170 on Aviva comprehensive car insurance, as well as serious bragging rights over friends and family who also take the challenge. We expect 55% of safer drivers to achieve this saving or more.*

Key features of Aviva Drive

Our Aviva Drive app comes with a host of fantastic features to help you hone your safe driving skills. Want to know more? You’re in the right place.

View your progress

Keep an eye on your progress and track your route with the built-in map function. And once you’re done, you can view a summary of all your completed journeys.

Auto record

The first rule of safe driving is to never use your mobile phone while you’re behind the wheel. So Aviva Drive intuitively records your journey by detecting movement via your phone’s GPS – clever stuff, and no action required.

You’ll get a notification when the app starts and the chance to review all auto-recorded journeys afterwards. So if someone else was driving, you can make sure their skills (or lack of) don’t affect your score.

Earn badges

With Aviva Drive, you can collect badges for:

  • Safe driving skills
  • Driving at specific times
  • Reviewing the app

See how you compare

Once you’ve recorded 200 miles of driving, we’ll give you a score out of 10 based on your cornering, braking and acceleration skills. We’ll then use that score to calculate your personalised discount.

It doesn’t stop there, though. In our quest to help make the roads safer, we’ll also give you some feedback on your driving to show you any areas you might need to brush up on. We’ll even show you how your score compares to the national average.

Safer drivers save

Safer drivers who score 7.1 or more on Aviva Drive save an average of £170 on their Aviva comprehensive car insurance.

* Based on policies bought direct from Aviva between October 2016 and April 2017. 55% scoring 7.1+ saved £170 or more. Discount is available on first car per policy and depends on score and price – minimum £200. Discount does not apply to optional extras. Compatible handset required. Data charges may apply.

The table shows the levels of discount you could earn based on your driving score and premium.

Get a car quote

Taking the Aviva Drive challenge is the first step towards making savings on your Aviva car insurance. You can use the app to get a quote for car insurance whenever you like – but remember, to benefit from your personalised discount, you’ll need to complete 200 miles and get your individual score.
