Why do I need travel insurance?
It’s there to help protect you while you’re away from home. Our Aviva Signature travel cover can help with all kinds of curveballs, from urgent medical help to coming home early.
It can make sense to get your cover before you book your trip. It’s important to remember that travel insurance doesn’t cover you for any event, incident, or circumstance that you knew about – or could reasonably be expected to have known about – when you bought your policy or booked your trip (whichever is later). It’s there to help when life throws something unexpected your way.
Get started by choosing from annual multi-trip cover or single trip cover.

What we need to know about your health
We need to know if you, or anyone covered, has had any diagnosed illness, injury, or disease in the 12 months before buying or renewing your cover, where they've:
- been prescribed medicine, including newly prescribed or repeat medication
- received or are waiting for medical treatment, investigations or tests
- been referred to, is under the care of, or has had an appointment with a specialist or consultant
- been admitted to hospital or had surgery
It’s important you tell us about any pre-existing medical conditions. If you don’t, we may not pay a claim or withdraw cover entirely.
Medical treatment abroad can be extremely expensive. Travelling without cover for pre-existing conditions could lead to serious financial implications if you need treatment while you’re on a trip. It could also mean we may not pay a claim for cancelling the trip for any insured person if you become ill before your trip.
Look at the Your health section of the policy wording for more information on what we need to know about pre-existing medical conditions and when you need to tell us.
