Find your way towards financial wellbeing

Stuck on where to go next for help with your finances? Use the Aviva Wealth Compass to help you figure out your next steps.

Your finances, your way

When it comes to managing your money, one size doesn't fit all. We offer different types of support at Aviva, from handy calculators for things like Inheritance Tax and pensions, to retirement planning, and getting financial advice from an expert. Depending on your income, savings, assets, and even your age, you'll need guidance tailored to you to help you organise your finances.

Aviva Wealth Compass will take you through a few simple steps to establish where you are with your money right now and then offer you suggestions based on what you’ve told us. Just as an example, if you tell us you need help bringing your pensions together, we might suggest taking a look at our Find and Combine service.

Find your way towards financial wellbeing

Follow these four steps to give us some basic information about your finances. This will help us offer you suggestions on where to go next. It's okay if you don't know the exact amounts, but the more accurate you are, the better guidance we can give.

Step of

Before you start

Before you start, it’ll be useful to have a few things to hand. Don’t worry if you don’t, we’ll still be able to help. But the more accurate your information is, the more tailored our suggestion will be.

You’ll need to know (approximately):

  • The value of your pension(s) - these might be Aviva pensions, pensions from another provider, or a combination of both
  • How much you have in investments and/or savings, like an ISA
  • The value of any property you own
  • The outstanding balance of any mortgage(s) you’re currently paying

We can only offer our services to UK residents. Please confirm if you are a UK resident.

What do we mean by a UK resident?

What do you need help with?

You can tick more than one.

What type of support would you like to receive?

What is the approximate value of your pensions, investments and savings?

So we can support you with the right resources, please tell us approximately how much you have saved in pensions, investments, and savings. If the amount is zero, you can put a 0.

Defined Contribution (DC) Pensions

This pension builds a fund from payments by you and/or an employer, which are then invested. Also known as a money purchase pension, the value of this type of pension can go down as well as up.

Defined Benefit (DB) Pension

Also known as final salary or career average earnings schemes, this pension guarantees a retirement income. The amount it pays out depends on things like your final or average salary and how long you’ve been a member of a scheme. It doesn’t depend on how much you or your employer have paid in. The value you enter here should be the CETV (Cash Equivalent Transfer Value).

What does CETV mean?
Transfers are based on a valuation of your pension, known as the CETV. This is a cash equivalent value of the benefits you would receive from your defined benefit pension if you decide to transfer. If you don't know your CETV or one is not available for your scheme, please leave this input blank.

If you have a defined benefit (DB) pension, you're required by law to get financial advice before transferring if the CETV is over £30,000. We still recommend getting advice for anything below £30,000 so you’re aware of any loss of benefits, such as your right to a guaranteed income for you and any dependant you may leave.

Investments

This should be an approximate total of any money you have in bonds, shares, Stocks and Shares ISA, funds, etc. You don’t need to include other invested assets like property.

Savings

This should be an approximate total of any money you have saved in a cash ISA, a regular savings account, an instant or easy access savings account, and/or cash.

  • If you're not sure

If you’re not sure or don’t have this information right now, you can tick this box to let us know you’re not sure. But, we can offer better support if you’re able to give us approximate values.

Tell us about any property you own?

We understand you might not have all this information right now, so you can add approximate values or simply tick ‘I own property, but don’t have this information right now’. A good way to get an approximate value is to see what other houses have sold for in your area.

What is your property worth?

What is your main property worth?

What are your other properties worth in total?

Finally, please tell us about yourself

We'll use this information and the other information you have provided to make suggestions on your next steps. We'll also send you a record of these suggestions. For more information about how Aviva uses your personal information and your rights, please see our Privacy Policy.
