Why is it when I buy something there are always mistakes and I have to keep on ringing back?

I bought some house insurance. When the paper copy got to me (and the insurance had started) it was for another address (although the billing details were for my address - very difficult to notice that my address was not covered). Rang up customer service - was 139 difference (I should have paid more). They listened to the tape of my purchase. Rang me back said it was all changed. No fee. Wasn’t changed on line (said I needed to pay 139), again I nearly didn’t notice. Rang back. Have an email now but no paper copy as requested. Why is it impossible to buy home insurance with one call?

I'm very sorry to read your review & to learn of your experience with us.This certainly isn't the high standard of customer service we aspire to. I understand that you shouldn't have had to chase us up to get this fixed or for there to be an issue in the first instance. However, I can see that all has now been resolved and we've waived the additional premium for you due to our error. I have sent you an email so that we can resolve this.

Having bought my car insurance this year through Aviva, I decided to get a quote for home insurance. I saved £70 compared to the renewal quote from my previous insurers. That seems pretty good to me.

Claimed for broken window, when asked if it turns out to be cheaper than my excess what do I do. Oh you just cancel the claim. Ok . Company come out ,have a look , in the mean time I get a quote from a local glazier and it’s less than the excess. I phone to cancel the claim and then get a bill for nearly £200 for a call out fee!!! £50 more than a replacement window supplied and fitted. No wonder insurance is expensive if that’s what they charge aviva just for a quote !!!

Terrible customer service. Unnecessary emails.

Bought home insurance. Insurance fine, but all unnecessary emails and no way of stopping these. No one answering the phone; just a whole load of options leading to yet more options none of which was appropriate.

Because I have motor insurance with Aviva & was satisfied with them, I decided to get a quote from them for our home insurance. The online forms were very easy to go through & they asked the minimum to quote. They were extremely competitive, the cover offered was very comprehensive & also offered free monthly payments. I phoned them to clarify some aspects of the cover. The rep was very knowledgeable & pleasant & what he didn't actually know, my query was a bit different, he quickly found out about. I went ahead with the policy as it offered excellent value & in the knowledge that a company that has been around for as long as Aviva was unlikely to cause problems should a claim be necessary.
