This material is designed for use by Aviva Health customers.
Users should be aged 16 or over.
A selection of our recognised specialists feature within the Specialist Finder Tool. You are not obliged to use the specialists listed, but getting a referral to a specialist that is not listed may mean that the specialist is not recognised by us.
All specialists that feature in the tool adhere to our fee guidelines; meaning there will be no shortfall on specialists’ fees for you to pay. Other specialists that adhere to our fee guidelines may also be available in your area.
Not all of our hospital lists are included in the Specialist Finder Tool. If your hospital list isn’t included some of the results returned may not be suitable for you.
If you do not select a hospital list in the Specialist Finder Tool, the results will show specialists from our ‘Key’ hospital list by default, meaning that the results may not be suitable for you.
The Specialist Finder Tool covers most of the medical specialisms usually covered under Private Medical Insurance. However, oncology/cancer and psychiatry/mental health are not included. If you are claiming for either of these specialisms then we would encourage you to get a referral letter from your GP naming a specific specialist.
The Specialist Finder Tool is not suitable for all customers:
Please do not use this tool for children under the age of 16, as paediatric specialists are not listed. Instead, please ask your GP for a referral naming a specific specialist able to treat children of this age.
If you are on a company scheme and have BacktoBetter cover, for neck, back, muscle or joint pain you should use our BacktoBetter service, therefore please call us instead of visiting your GP.
If you are a GuideWell customer please do not use the Specialist Finder Tool. Instead ask your GP for a referral that does not name a specific specialist hospital or facility.
You can use your home or work postcode for your search; whichever is more convenient for you, and the results will show specialists who work within a 25 mile radius of that postcode.
If your search does not yield any results we ask that you get an open referral letter – this is where the GP details the medical specialism and sub-specialism without naming a specific consultant, facility or hospital. If this is the case please contact us and we will use our full list of specialists to find somebody suitable for you over the phone.
Always call Aviva to start your claim and ensure cover is in place before seeing a specialist.
