You asked: Would I be covered for breakdown if I was getting a lift in someone else's car?

We offer breakdown as an optional cover to your existing motor policy or you can opt to have a standalone breakdown policy.

If you have select breakdown cover for any of the vehicle(s) on your existing motor policy, it is the vehicle(s) insured that will be covered for breakdown regardless of who is driving it.
