You asked: Why do final bonus rates fluctuate depending when the investment started?
The purpose of the final bonus is to make sure you get a fair share of the With-Profit Fund, based on the period of time you've been invested in it.
So if the fund performed well during the time you had money invested in it, you're more likely to get a higher final bonus than if the fund performed poorly during the time you were invested. Therefore final bonus rates will vary depending on the year in which you invested and the point at which you leave the fund.
