You asked: What is a final bonus?
Pension planholders, investment bond and unit-linked endowment customers only
The returns earned by the fund are added to your investment through a system of bonuses. A final bonus may be paid to ensure you get a fair share of the return earned by your investment for the time you've invested in the Fund. It may be added when you leave the fund, for example:
- when you take your pension benefits
- when your policy matures (for example endowments)
- if you die
- if you switch out of the fund (applicable to unitised products only)
- if you transfer your pension to another provider.
The final bonus can vary over the period of your investment and it is not guaranteed. For example, if the fund hasn't performed well over the period you invested, you may not receive a final bonus. This is because you'll have already received your share of the returns though regular bonuses.
We are unable to provide our final bonus rates online. If you would like to know the rates that apply to your policy, please call us on 0800 068 6800 (opening times: Monday-Friday 8.30am - 5.30pm and Saturday 8.30am - 2.00pm). Please have your policy number to hand to help us get you to the right place.
