Aviva has enjoyed a successful 12-year partnership with Norwich City FC, both as main club sponsor and community partner. Earlier this year, we made the decision to focus our efforts on other community activity, so we won’t be renewing our partnership at the end of the current season.
Over the many years, Aviva and NCFC have enjoyed a mutually successful partnership which has seen many achievements and award-winning successes. Aviva remains hugely committed to supporting community initiatives in Norwich and we’ll continue to work alongside other Norwich-based organisations in the Norwich Together programme.
Our partnership began back in the 2008/09 Championship season, and has enjoyed a rollercoaster ride throughout Division One, the Championship and Premier League seasons, standing side by side with the club, players and fans.
Off the pitch, our work with the club led to countless highlights:
We’ve donated the front of shirt branding to support various local charities over the years, as well as Railway Children and British Red Cross.
We’ve worked with the club to support Stonewall’s Team Pride and Rainbow Laces campaigns for 4 years, seeing the creation of the Proud Canaries LGBT-friendly football team
We established the Aviva Matchday Buddy programme which sees volunteers supporting fans with mobility needs on every matchday
We’ve worked with the club to support the Aviva Community Fund, from perimeter ads to player appearances
We’ve had teams from across our UK business coming together to play on the hallowed turf of Carrow Road in the Aviva 6s tournaments as well as hosting our partners in the Broker 6s
And who can forget the Aviva Lemur in all its glory!

Got a question?
Why are you ending your relationship with Norwich City Football Club now?
Our existing community partner sponsorship is coming to the end of its contract. It was an ideal time for us to review our position and make the decision to move our support to other Norwich based events.
When does the community partnership officially end?
Our partnership will finish when the football season officially ends on 30 June 2020.
Does this have anything to do with the news that you are now the main sponsor for Run Norwich?
No, not at all. We can confirm we are sponsoring Run Norwich and are totally committed to community initiatives in Norwich, as evidenced by our Norwich Together programme. Our focus is on having a positive impact in our communities and on the people of Norwich, as demonstrated by the Aviva Community Fund and the Norwich Together initiative.
Does this mean that Norwich is no longer a key location for you?
Norwich remains a core business centre for Aviva and a community we are very proud to be a part of. These are reasons we’re continuing to sponsor local initiatives like Run Norwich and the Love Light Festival.
How much have you spent on your sponsorship with Norwich City?
We cannot reveal the commercial details of our relationships. However, we are delighted to have had a longstanding successful partnership with Norwich City.
What is next for Aviva in sponsorship?
There are many ways in which stakeholders engage with our Aviva brand. We are continuously looking at different options to make sure our brand engages in a meaningful way with our stakeholders, through relevant channels. Sponsorship is one option where we have benefitted in the past, and we continue to remain open to all options in our future marketing planning.
What does this mean for Run Norwich?
We’re very proud to be sponsoring Run Norwich which has announced a new date. Find out more here.
Does this mean you won’t be supporting Stonewall and the Rainbow Laces campaign?
