Frequently Asked Questions

Ask us a question

You asked: What is meant by specialism and sub-specialism?

Specialism refers to the branch of medicine your symptoms or condition relate to. Sub-specialism is the specific field within that branch of medicine. For example, an individual suffering with a knee problem may be referred to see a consultant with a specialism in orthopaedics and a sub-specialism in knee issues. Your GP will be familiar with these terms and will include this information in your referral letter.
