You asked: I have a mortgage, so do I need life insurance?
Whilst you aren't obliged to purchase a life insurance policy alongside your mortgage, some lenders may request that you get cover as part of their mortgage offer. If you're unsure, please contact your mortgage provider.
If, during the policy term, you were to die or were diagnosed with a terminal illness that meets our policy conditions, and were not expected to live longer than 12 months, a life insurance policy could provide a lump sum payment which your loved ones could use to repay any outstanding mortgage repayments. If we pay the terminal illness benefit then the life insurance policy ends and there will be no further amount payable on death.
There is no cash in value at any time.
