Assessment: Your Pulse Recovery Time

The time it takes for your pulse to return to its resting rate after exercise can be used to monitor improvements in your fitness. As you become fitter, your pulse recovery time decreases. You should be able to notice a difference in how quickly your pulse recovers within 4 weeks of starting regular exercise that makes your heart and lungs work hard.
