Tailor your cover

Increase your cover

Boost your basic cover with these policy options.
  • Dental and optical
Cover for routine dental treatment and optical expenses
  • Mental health treatment
Cover for in-patient and day-patient treatment if you’re diagnosed with an acute psychiatric condition

You can choose to upgrade to our Extended Hospital List – increasing the number of hospitals you're able to use
  • Other treatment and therapies

Reduce your cover

Make your cover more affordable by opting out of some policy features or paying an excess.

Reduce your premium by choosing to use the NHS for certain services – you'll still be covered for private in-patient and day-patient care if NHS treatment isn't available in 6 weeks
  • Policy excess
Reduce your premium by selecting an excess you'll pay towards the cost of any claim – choose from £100, £200, £500, £1,000, £3,000 or £5,000 a year 4
  • Reduce your hospital list

How our claims process works

Once you’re covered with us, making a claim and accessing private treatment is quick and easy.

We paid out nearly £403 million in claims during 2017 – so you can count on us to help you overcome illness or injury.

1

Visit your GP

See your GP as normal if you're feeling unwell. If they want you to see a specialist, just tell them you've got Private Health Insurance with us. They’ll give you a referral and we’ll handle it from there.

2

Make a claim

You can make a claim quickly online using MyAviva or over the phone. We'll just need to know your symptoms and what you've been referred for. Once we've approved your claim, you'll get the private treatment you need.

3

And we’ll pay for treatment

After you've been treated, send us your invoices. We settle most bills directly with the hospital or specialist, but we'll contact you if you need to pay any part of an invoice, for example, if you have an excess.
