Make your health cover more affordable
Our Private Health Insurance has been designed with flexibility in mind. So, if you’d like to pay less for your cover, there are several ways you can adjust your policy to make it more cost-effective.
Six week option
Reduce your premium by choosing to use the NHS for certain services – you'll still be covered for private in-patient and day-patient care if NHS treatment isn't available in 6 weeks.
Reduce your premium by selecting an excess you'll pay towards the cost of any claim. Choose from £100, £200, £500, £1,000, £3,000 or £5,000 a year. The excess only applies once to each person, every policy year.
Reduce your hospital list
Our standard Private Health Insurance gives you access to our Key hospital list, featuring a wide range of healthcare facilities. But if you’d like to keep costs down, you can select a different list with fewer facilities.
- Signature hospital list: featuring private hospitals in Scotland and Northern Ireland only
- Trust hospital list: mostly made up of NHS Trust and Partnership private hospital units (you need to live within the catchment area of a Trust hospital to use this list)
Please note: depending on your symptoms or condition, you may still need to be treated at a hospital on one of our specific networks.
