Norwich City vs Bolton Wanders

Man of the Match: Christoph Zimmermann
The fans came to Carrow Road for the match against Bolton with a lot of hope that we would see a victory. I had been interviewed on Radio Norfolk with Rob Butler, and then spoke to Michael Bailey, and my prediction was a 1-0 win with Hanley scoring in the 58th minute. When the teamsheet came out there was a lot of excitement as Hernandez would be starting for the first time in front of the whole stadium. Tettey would also be captain for the day, and with Timm Klose injured we would change our formation.
We took our seats in the press box, the closest you can sit to the snake pit without being bitten! The fans were noisy, and it got louder when they started to sing On The Ball City. I had interviewed Daniel Farke before the match, and asked him if he knew the words, and that I would be happy to teach him if he didn’t. I was watching him when he came out & he seemed to sing along, but I couldn’t hear how good he was!
The match started. A few good chances came along early in the game, and Maddison hit the post in the 9th minute from outside the box with a great shot. The Mighty Yellows were playing really good football, with Hanley, Murphy, Reed & Oliveira all coming close to scoring. Bolton hardly seemed to get near the Norwich goal, but when they did, the GINORMOUS Zimmerman was there to save the day, but this time he used his foot to kick the ball, not his head! Haha!
One of the best players in the first half was Hernandez, who was always attacking the Bolton defence, and was looking good to be man of the match. His speed worried the Bolton players, and they could not find a way to keep up. Let’s hope we see a lot more games like this from him in future.
Later in the first half, the best chance of the game was fluffed by Moritz Leitner. After some really good Norwich passing, it was just him and the goalkeeper. With lots of space and time he completely and totally missed the goal.
The second half started, and Norwich seemed to struggle a lot more. Hanley was doing a super job of bossing the defence around, and we could even hear him in the press box, but it was difficult to understand him! There were a few small chances, including shots from Maddison, Murphy & Jamal Lewis, but none were as good as the first half. Daniel Farke decided to bring on Hoolahan and Srbeny on the 70th minute, but it didn’t change the game too much.
Bolton were doing a lot of timewasting, but the referee did nothing about it. This meant Daniel Farke got extremely annoyed. In injury time Moritz Leitner took a throw in, but did it in the wrong way. The frustration was too much for Daniel Farke, who kicked the ball away which was a little bit naughty. The referee sent him off, but he didn’t miss much as the final whistle came soon after.
Norwich deserved to win, and had played well during the match, but in future need to score more of their chances. I hope we might still be able to finish in the top 6, but if not I think next season will be a great one. It was brilliant to meet all the journalists and people from Norwich City FC, and I want to say thank you to everyone. It was amazing. OTBC.
Final result: Norwich 0 – 0 Bolton
